Cynthia Doggett

Cynthia Krenzel Doggett has a dynamic and passionate personality that excites audiences and students alike. Passing her knowledge and experience as a performer to her students is Cynthia’s primary goal, and her success in crafting their tone and musicianship has been widely recognized.

Dr. Doggett’s international appearances include performances and master classes in Romania and London. Cynthia regularly appears throughout the Midwest as a soloist, recitalist, and clinician, and was recently a featured alumna at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Clarinet Day. In 2008 Dr. Doggett performed as concerto soloist with the Central Iowa Symphony orchestra. As an orchestral clarinetist she has performed in orchestras throughout Ohio, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Iowa. Dr. Doggett is also a member of the Wild Prairie Wind Quintet.

In order to enhance the level of clarinet performance and education in Iowa, Cynthia coordinated Iowa Clarinet Day. This annual event brings performances and master classes by internationally renowned clarinetists to the state of Iowa, and facilitates collaboration between Midwestern clarinet professors. Guest artists for Iowa Clarinet Day include Daniel Gilbert, Jonathan Cohler, and Håkan Rosengren.

Cynthia has commissioned a number of works for clarinet and saxophone for the duet KrenzelDoggett, a project she and her husband, Thomas, founded in order to increase the repertoire for clarinet and saxophone. Dr. Doggett has performed at conferences to support these and other modern works, including Society of Composers Inc. (SCI) and Iowa Composer’s Forum. Their list of commissioned works includes The Ox and the Lark by Nikola Resanovic, composer of alt.music.ballistix, for clarinet and tape.

Cynthia Krenzel Doggett is Assistant Professor of Music at Central College in Pella, IA. Dr. Doggett earned her D.M.A. from University of Wisconsin-Madison, her M.M. from Kent State University, and her B.M. from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Her primary teachers were Linda Bartley, Dennis Nygren, Andrea Splittberger-Rosen, and internationally acclaimed soloist Håkan Rosengren.Cynthia Doggett is a Yuan Gao performing artist.
